BRACES

BRACES

At Zaytoun Orthodontics our doctors have more than 55 years of orthodontic and dental experience. With that has come the opportunity to test and evaluate a vast variety of braces. In fact, our Zaytoun doctors were part of the original research and development team for the first bonded braces ever designed. Today, braces have advanced well beyond the days of bands around every tooth.

The orthodontists at Zaytoun offer a range of treatment methods, including traditional braces. Many complex orthodontic conditions may require traditional braces. For example patients with a misaligned bite preparing for jaw surgery may need traditional metal braces to offer the greatest amount of control. Traditional braces may also be the best option for younger children who are likely to lose aligners.

In some ways, self-ligating braces are very similar to traditional braces.

They are made from many of the same materials: metal or ceramic brackets. However, the brackets do not require any elastic ligatures or ties, instead, use a special slide (or door) to hold the wire.

Research has shown this system produces less friction on the teeth, causing reduced soreness. Self-ligating braces generally require fewer adjustment appointments and can often work faster than traditional braces.

They come in two types: passive and active.
